EURid will conduct a test of its systems on Saturday, 25 April, between 06.00 and 18.00 CEST. We plan to migrate .eu registration services from our main site to a mirror site and back again as an exercise of our Business Continuity Plan.
As a result, several hosts and services will be down during parts of this period. (If all goes well, most of them should be available while we are on the mirror site. We estimate this will occur between 09.00 and 13.00.)
Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. This test is needed to help us make sure we can keep .eu up and running in the face of unexpected events outside of our control.
Please note that most of the time and effort during this controlled test will be devoted to guaranteeing a safe return to the master site. That is why downtime during the test will be much longer than the downtime expected if we should ever need to respond to a real-world event.
Important: All registration activity (including new domain names and updates) done while the mirror site is active will be live. This registration activity will be propagated back to the master site at the end of the exercise.
The DNS service for .eu will not be impacted during the test. Our public website at http://www.eurid.eu and its WHOIS search function will also be available.
